| | (1) Posted by Marjan Kovačević [Saturday, Jan 7, 2023 19:44] | The first two weeks in social media Since two weeks ago, the World Federation for Chess Composition (WFCC) has its place in different social media: YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. All icons are on the top right page of the WFCC website.
The first 8 posts were oriented to complete outsiders, with a more serious information here and there.
The most popular was the January Solvers rating list getting to the Top FIDE news (https://fide.com/news),
but International Day of Chess Composition got more visits (over 1.200) on Facebook,
maybe because of the attractive old-style design and a #2 problem to solve.
The reasons to use the category WFCC Projects in the Mat Plus Forum are:
a) To invite more followers on social networks.
The numbers create the value in the "social market", and our numbers are still below 100. Any sharing helps.
b) To create together new materials.
WFCC account in social media could promote all valuable things (old and new) created by any problemist around the world.
Several topics are already in the waiting list, but a regular flow will be possible only when all our community gets included.
To start, please, send anything you would like to promote to my email kovacevic.marjan@gmail.com.
At the same time, have in mind that any new idea should include the concrete volunteer to realize it!
c) To initiate joint work on the 2023 Calendar of all important events in chess composition.
This project came out as feedback from social media, and now it seems more realistic, if it gets overall support.
The first steps are prepared and will be presented in a separate WFCC thread. | | (2) Posted by Marjan Kovačević [Sunday, Jan 8, 2023 13:54] | Today, you may see the call for participation in 19th ISC with some examples to solve, supported by Axel.
Thanks to all of you who have started following, liking and sharing! | | (3) Posted by Marjan Kovačević [Monday, Jan 9, 2023 16:44] | Yesterday’s ISC post has reached our Facebook records for number of visitors (over 1.300), closing to 3.000 up to now.
FB and Instagram are the best growing nets, with around 70 WFCC followers each.
Twitter allows a very short text and has got around 40 followers, LinkedIn less than 20.
More important effects:
A chess player from India used the last post to connect with Axel Steinbrink in order to participate in ISC.
A person from Italy got interested in organizing solving competitions after noting Axel’s seminar on WFCC YouTube account.
He got a warm reply from Marco Guida, the same day.
Somebody from France asked about composing events and was redirected to Axel Gilbert and Abdelaziz Onkoud.
A few people from Sweden and Turkey were teased to solve ISC problems. | | (4) Posted by Marjan Kovačević [Thursday, Jan 12, 2023 14:33] | Now you can see a short WFCC tribute to Arnoldo Ellerman, born on this day, 130 years ago. | | (5) Posted by Steffen Slumstrup Nielsen [Thursday, Jan 12, 2023 15:21] | Keep this up, Marjan. I am surprised to find such a great interest in studies and problems on especially Twitter. From strong players I would normally associate with our field. | | (6) Posted by Marjan Kovačević [Friday, Jan 13, 2023 16:13] | Thanks, Steffen!
You are the first one to support the WFCC “socialization”,
but you perfectly understand the need to bring chess composition to a wider audience,
and your Fujairah lecture is the model: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0a3N8b4QG00&t=23s
Till month ago I had no contact with social networks, except negative feelings about them.
Now I'm eagerly waiting for any suggestion and contribution, especially for endgames:
how difficult they may be to attract; what kind of them to choose;
is some guidance or advertisement of the content better to offer, or not ... | | (7) Posted by Marjan Kovačević [Friday, Jan 13, 2023 22:39] | In the third week the total number of visitors of the WFCC Facebook page has grown from 3.000 to 3.500.
Arnoldo Ellerman broke the record of the previous post, lifting it from 1.900 to 2.400.
I guess the old style brown design by Julia, once again, contributed a lot.
Number of followers is still small, but closing to 80 in FB and Instagram, and to 50 on Twitter now.
The next posts should be from the Sunday LOST competition, and then 110 years of Lev Loshinsky. | | No more posts |
