Peter, yes. My opinion is that it is very kind of all these people and all the others from different countries, to accept the difficult, tiring and often unrewarding position of the judge. Knowing how hard it is to appoint 5 judges in each section and the tremendous load of work that awaits the director, I appreciate the contribution of all these gentlemen. |

it seems i was not clear enough:
i am not talking about the particular persons.
i am talking about the director AND judges from the same country.
your opinions? |

Based on the limited experience I would say it is very difficult to find both director and judges. I mean director and judges who are willing to do the task well and in timely manner. Anyone who dared to do it in the past would surely confirm.
I see no problem in having director and judge from the some country in WCCI as, differently from FIDE Album, director does not give marks to problems of judges. His role is more administrative than that of FIDE Album section director, and surely heavier as he has to work with all 8 sections at the same time, during a short period. |

We have recently decided that *ALL* WCCI judges should send the spreadsheets with their points not only to the director, but simultaneously also to the members of the supervising panel and to the WFCC president. |

WFCC News: "WCCI 2013-15 broke all the records!"
"By far the biggest final numbers: till the last day (January 20th) 2862 entries by 248 composers from 41 countries arrived!
Previous records: 2319 entries (2004-06), 227 composers (2010-12), 38 countries (2001-03)."
From my point of view, the greatest improvement of this cycle was done by the director Dmitri Turevski and the WFCC editor Julia Vysotska:
"For the first time, all entries publicly available on the “Entries” page (click on the numbers of problems sent by each composer)."
This novelty gave us a free online collection of recent compositions whose average quality may be compared to FIDE Album. To the WCCI judges it allowed getting to know majority of entries some months earlier.
It was during Bern WCCC 2014 when previous WCCI director Mike Prcic asked to be replaced. After the whole year had passed nobody appeared interested to take it over, and our hopes Mike would save another cycle failed during WCCC Ostroda 2015.
A month before the planned announcement Dmitri accepted the hard job. I believe all the participants and all who collaborated with him may be grateful to Dmitri now. |

Brilliant idea in its simplicity. Having all the problems available for everyone to see is great. Congratulations to the mastermind(s) and thank you! This is real progress. |

@ Diyan and anyone else
Uploading of one entry on the server takes a few seconds, it is the easiest job.
Building the spreadsheet takes a little more time.
Anyway, it is progressive innovation indeed.
Thanks to Dmitri and Julia! |

Vitali, without knowing the details, I presume that the whole project took a few lines of coding and probably a few minutes to upload everything to the server. Maybe a little more time for everything - I am not a programmer. But, this is something that nobody involved was obliged to do, or even think about doing it. They did it in order to improve the way things were. This is a generous gesture and a great service to all of us. |
