The translator gives:

 QUOTE
In India, rich in chess traditions, chess composition has always been popular. And one of the first themes of the chess composition is called "Indian".

I would go a step beyond that statement...
Though there may be some argument about where chess was invented (there's a strong case chess was invented in India, but that's beyond the focus), we are certain (please correct me if I'm wrong) that the first recorded chess composition was published in India -- not only the first fairy chess problem featuring the Alfil, but also the first study and directmate (which actually precede, quite substantially, the modern rules of chess).

So, please forgive me (I certainly intend no divisiveness here -- in fact, I'm quite encouraged to see problem enthusiasts can still come together in these times of highly turbulent geopolitics), but it's rather funny to site the "Indian" (a western named theme which was first demonstrated by a composer in India), when India deserves so much more credit (for the first known chess problem, at the very least).

Unless the aforementioned distinction is disputed (which would be news to me), there is far greater heft in noting that India was the birthplace of chess problems.
