It's time for a tenth interim balance. [Edit 04/18 15:26]

It's hard to find the current record in section Ser-s= . It might be (113).
Several attempts surpass his problem but the might be cooked as well.

(273) replaced (234).

All attemps in (281) were cooked, (237) as well.
(314) is a new attempt.

New record ser-!#14 . This record also fits the stipulation MMM.

Current records are:

Ser-# ...11 ........... (39) Arno Tüngler (starter)
Ser-= ...18 .......... (159) Arno Tüngler
ser-s# ..17 .......... (124) Frank Richter
ser-s# ..17 .......... (128) Michael Schreckenbach
ser-s= ..22 .......... (113) Michel Caillaud (C?)
Ser-r# ..10 .......... (145) Joost de Heer
Ser-r= ..17 .......... (273) Joost de Heer (C?)
Ser-!# ..14 .......... (325) Michael Schreckenbach / Frank Richter
Ser-!# MMM 14 .. (74) Frank Richter
Ser-!# MMM 14 .. (78) Joost de Heer
Ser-!# MMM 14 .. (325) Michael Schreckenbach / Frank Richter
Ser-!= ..26 .......... (118) Dragan Stojnić (C?)
Ser-h# .KNC 11 .. (42) Michel Caillaud / Arno Tüngler
Ser-h# .. 15 ........ (222) Arno Tüngler / Miodrag Mladenović
Ser-hs# .12 ........ (314) Dragan Stojnić (C?)
Ser-hs= .18 ........ (202) Miodrag Mladenović / Arno Tüngler (C?)

Everybody is invited to surpass one of the entries or to cook one marked C?.

Next checking...

Probably I found cooks in
281 A,B,C.

B 16 cooked in 15
One of possibilities: 1.Sf6 2.Sd5 3.Sxc3 4.Sa6 5.Sc5 6.e5 7.Qf6 8.Qe6 9.Qa2 10.Qb1 11.Ke7 12.Kd6 13.Kd5 14.Kd4 15.d5 - Sb3+ Sxb3#

B15 same cook

A 17 cooked in 16:
...7.c6 8.cb5 9.Qa5 10.Qa2 11.Qb1 12-16.same as 11-15 in B 16 cook

Other versions are shorter in comparation with joint 280, ser hs#15 (C?).
Do have objections about 280?

Olaf, I propose to you wait 3-4 days after publication new versions -candidates for records.
It is need time for details test. After 3 or 4 days if no objections, then include it in list

I would like to reduce the clutter. After some days there are so much new proposals.
I think it's better to show the current record even if it will be cooked after a short time.
The record in section ser-s= is not clear until now. I did not include the longest proposals but what to do?
If nobody claims a cook the longest should enter the list.

More about 281 A 17 also have another cook in only 15:
1.h5 2.h4 3.Rh5 4.Rc5 5.Rc3 6.Rc5 7.e5 8.e4 9.Qf6 10.Ke7 13.Kd4 14.ed3 15.Qf1 - Qd3+ Qxd3#

At 281 B if remove Sa1 (which make founded cook) from board maybe exist chance for correct ser.hs#15 , or if remove to c4 maybe save 16 moves, but it is need details analyse...
Please wait...

@(286)
Olaf, I recommend that when you summarize tasks you publish two lists. One is with C+ problems and the other one with C? problems. Then everyone will know what are the computer tested tasks and what are the other tasks.

(289) Posted by Miodrag Mladenović [Thursday, Apr 14, 2022 07:02]

@(280) Cook:

1.Sxf6 2.Sd5 3.Sc3 4.e6 5.Qe7
6.Qxd6 7.Qa6 8.Qxa2 9.Qxb1 10.Ke7
11.Kd6 12.Kc5 13.Kd4 14.Sa6 15.Sc5 Sb3+ 16.Sxb3#

It looks like Sb3+ is too dangerous move and that we should avoid it.

My new candidate is:

A-17
(= 12+16 )

ser-hs#17 (C?)

B-16 (A without wQb4) (C?)

C-15 (B without wRc4) (C?)

Also, it's possible to move wQb4 => b3 & wRc4 => c3 if it prevents some cooks. Very difficult to check this position. There are so many possibilities.

(289) A 17b (with Qb3,Rc3) also cooked similar as 281 ago with mate on d3:
2.h4 3.Rh5 4.Rd5 5.Rc5 6,Rc3 7.Rc5 8.e5 9.e4 10.Qf6 11.Qb6 12.Qb5 13.Ke7 14.Kd6 15.Ke5 16.Kd4 17.ed3 - Qxd3+ Qxd3#

Maybe in 289 A17 use Bc3 instead Qb4 can save ser hs#17?
What you think Miodrag?

@(293) Maybe this will work with a white bishop on c3 instead of white queen on b4. Who knows?

(295) Posted by Dragan Stojnić [Friday, Apr 15, 2022 01:02]

(293) propose with Bc3 (instead Qb4) however is cooked, unbelievable:
1.Sf6 2.Sd5 3.d6 4.Kd7 5.Kc6 6.Kb5 7.Ka6 8.b5 9.bc4 10.Sc6 11.Sa5 12.Bb7 13.Sf4 14.Qd7 15.Qa4 16.Qa2 17.Qb1- Bxc4+, Sxc4#

Next test for 289 B16...
Chance is maybe 60:40 for correct setting, but who know...
