Russian Nowotny?

This surely got answered at Rebnora, but I forgot long time ago
and anyway it's not me who wants to know but Mirko Degenkolbe :-)

So again: What is a Russian Nowotny?

I've never heard about a Russian Novotny. Heard about Azerbeijan and Romanian, I believe. Maybe some other country has its Novotny, too. Don't know the difference, but it doesn't bother me much. Some themes were analized to smallest details by those who were interested.

A chess problem theme?
No search machine returned me any result for "russian nowotny", but there was one for "russian novotny" which took me to some porno guide site - and THAT theme have been anylized to smallest and to biggest details ;-)

There is, of course, also Finnish Nowotny.

Sorry, Hannu!
At the moment I forgot it, although I find it much more interesting than the versions I had in mind!

I was browsing some old StrateGems issues these days and I found an article by Mike Prcic "Novotny Russian Style" (No 7, July-September 1999). This is a translation of an article by G. Svyatov, originally published in Shakhmatnaya Kompozitsiya. There is no explicit reference to Russian Novotny, but it may help. I have, however, to point out that there are certain inaccuracies in this article. For instance, No.1 does not feature any dual avoidance and there is no Rukhlis in No.3 (the usual confusion between Rukhlis and transferred mates...)
