I got an error when trying to run the new Popeye (possibly a security issue?). In the input file I specified the following:
On running pywin32.exe (under Windows XP) I got the following message:
input-error:cannot open output-file
offending item: xxx.txt
Popeye solved the problem OK, but no output file was created.

Windows XP? Are you serious???

Do you have write access to the directory where this file is to be created?

(I'm using Windows XP too! Anyway, the problem also happens on Vista.)
I think the output file specified by "protocol" is expected to be there (it's no longer created by Popeye). Fancy has problems as a result as well...

@Adrian: You know the IT guys reactions when confronted with their own bugs... ;-)

When I wrote:

I erred on the harsh side - obviously, Popeye users are serious.
Please let's continue the discussion of this issue over on github: https://github.com/thomas-maeder/popeye/issues/198
