8th Youth Chess Composing Challenge 2024

The YCCC-8 announcement has been published:
https://www.wfcc.ch/8yccc-announcement/

Deadline June 10, only one composition per section allowed.
Please, add FEN for diagram positions, and send endgames in pgn format too.
Three sections: A - #2 (thematic), B - endgame studies (no theme), and C - all kinds of problems (no endgames, no themes).

Novelties:
Prizes for the 5 best composers from 5 different countries: 500 Euros vouchers for taking part in WCCC & WCSC 2025, or in ECSC 2025.
Section A: The set condition oriented toward record number of thematic variations (but not only that). Judge: David Shire.
Section B: Gady Costeff & Steffen Nielsen judging together. Do note links to three inspiring articles on composing endgames!
Section C: Kjell Widlert & Seetharaman Kalyan joining the team to increase it to nine judges (the two extreme marks will be removed).

Please, advertise YCCC-8 among youngsters born 2001 or later!

The last week for composing has remained!

Entries are coming, for now from the same countries as before
but with some new names and with a higher average quality than usually.

Don't miss the chance to join the party!

It's the last day and many entries are still coming.
Until a week ago the situation wasn't very optimistic,
but with the last-minute originals it all became much brighter.

By now we have got entries from 13 countries:
Austria, Canada, France, India, Israel, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine and USA.

These are more or less regularly participating countries, with Austria being a pleasant surprise this year.
It's regretful to see some countries being absent since the YCCC-1.

Out of the active chess composition schools, the absence of students of the late Vladimir Kozhakin (1957-2024) is sadly visible.
On a positive side, the pupils of Leonid Yarosh, Bogusz Piliczewski and Vlaicu Crisan became more active, and the group of
already serious composers, mentored by Andrey Selivanov, continued growing!
