Franz Sackmann
"Deutsche Schachzeitung 1920" (hhdbiii must be right with Eskilstuna Kuriren 1916 as source)
White wins
Because of the defense 2...h6 they write in Ausgerechnete: Endspiele, no.5
"Wir meinen nach verschiedenen Versuchen, dass das Stück irreparabel ist."
Messieurs!

(correction by SH, 21st December 2004, original publication)
Nothing "irreparabel" about the study at all!
PS: Of course this is not against Hörning & Josten - they have made a wonderful job to promote chess composition with their columns - but it's another case of "never trust the authorities". Be yourself, no matter what they say! (as Sting expressed it)
PPS: I wonder about Sackmann's life. According to twiki database he died at the age of 39 (12th July 1888 to 22th February 1927). | | (2) Posted by Dejan Glisić [Wednesday, Jun 10, 2009 12:10] | What does it mean: (correction by SH, 21st December 2004, original publication) ? | | (3) Posted by Sarah Hornecker [Wednesday, Jun 10, 2009 12:47] | It means I made the correction at 21th December 2004 and publish it here for the first time. | | (4) Posted by Dejan Glisić [Friday, Jun 12, 2009 14:30] | O.K. Thank you for explanation. I was realy confused. | | (5) Posted by Sarah Hornecker [Thursday, Jun 25, 2009 19:38] | There are several incorrect versions of a 1925 Troitzky study. Here's a correct version.
