(Can someone tell me how to make a piece royal in Olive?
I tried to add "royal" but somehow my syntax is botched.)
a) n#?
If it's not a pawn, forget it. If it's a pawn, I expect it
to be massacred in no time by the opponents Q,
even with swapped right to move.
b) h#
As usual, can be done either with W or B to move/get mated.
b1) With a maximum of moves of the royal piece. (Don't
necessarily start with Q :-)
A lame wP4 try with royal Pd2, you surely can do better:
1. Nh3 a5 2. Ng1 Ra6 3. Nh3 Rc6 4. Ng1 Rc3 5. Nh3 c6 6. Ng1 Qb6 7. f3 Qe3 | | (2) Posted by Dmitri Turevski [Sunday, Feb 21, 2021 21:20] |

Right click on an empty slot in the "Fairy" toolbox below the diagram.
Select "Add piece" from the pop up menu.
Select piece type, color and properties (Royal).
If there's no empty slot in the "Fairy" toolbox, first make a vacant slot (right click - Delete piece/Delete all pieces). | | (3) Posted by Joost de Heer [Sunday, Feb 21, 2021 21:50] | b)
If any of the black pawns is royal instead of the king, a h#1.5 is possible
If any of the black knights is royal instead of the king, a h#2 is possible
If any of the black rooks or bishops is royal instead of the king, a h#2.5 is possible
If the black queen is royal instead of the king, a h#3 is possible
a) Only with royal Pf7 there's a #6, other royals take longer. | | (4) Posted by Hauke Reddmann [Monday, Feb 22, 2021 14:20] | THX, Dimitri! The popup menu hid too well :-)
(And how do I get a nonroyal king?) | | (5) Posted by Joost de Heer [Monday, Feb 22, 2021 14:55] | In Popeye, a non-royal king is an erlking (ek). | | (6) Posted by Hauke Reddmann [Monday, Feb 22, 2021 15:54] | THX again. Heard of that (and probably would have
gotten suspicious if I had taken the time to browse
through all ~100 fairy pieces...)
P.S. Maybe it would be sensible to highlight fairy
pieces that are otherwise indistingushable from a
normal one. Not necessarily each and every condition
with a different symbol (uncapturable gets iddqd :-)
but already a dot would suffice. Yes, *technically*
I should not forget it since I placed the piece on
the board myself, but still... | | No more posts |
