What does #C mean?
Hi all,
I found "#C" in the stipulation of a recent Duellantenschach proof game.
I guess it means that a mating unit changes colour. Has the condition got a name?

#C (#Colour) is a form of PAM (Play after Mate): after a checkmate, the colour of the mating piece(s) is changed and the game resumes if a legal position results. The condition was first introduced by Andrey Frolkin and Chris Tylor in feenschach no.212 (2015). You can find examples of proof games with the #C condition in an article by Paul Raican entitled ‘Proof Games #color’ in Quartz 48, Nov. 2019, p.807.

I believe that I invented what you problemists now call #R in the 1970s when playing Subbuteo tabletop football with my brothers :-)

Any token which scored a goal was removed from play. The winner of the match was the first to lose all 10 non-goalie tokens. This was a very effective handicapping mechanism for older siblings. There was also what you problemists might term a "Rex Inclusiv" form, where the goalkeeper was also a necessary object of self-removal in order to declare victory. I thought this variant was long forgotten, but I guess my brothers must have talked.
#C would have been more difficult because we only had 11 tokens for each team.

Yes it's me :) I just thought the distant way of writing this was more comical :) Subbuteo is a great game "over the pitch", but I know very few Subbuteo compositions
