(= 9+4 )
(452 FIDE Album 1914-44/II). There is also the following correct setting:
(= 9+4 )
Databases and some later quotes I have seen leap to the (plausible) conclusion that the Album setting is the original and the other position a correction. However, I have found the 2nd version quoted as early as v/1933 (by Wurzburg, in Chess Review p. 31; available on Kotesovec site), while I know no quote of the Album version earlier than 1972. It thus seems more likely that the Album is quoting an unsuccessful attempt to improve the original. The only other possibility is that the cooked version was corrected almost immediately.
Does anyone have definite information to decide the issue? If the sound version was the original, where does the Album setting come from? | | (2) Posted by Sarah Hornecker [Monday, Feb 14, 2011 19:15]; edited by Sarah Hornecker [11-02-14] | It seems likely to me that the version with Rb1 is a misprint. The theme is obviously the obstruction of the black bishop which is nonexist with Rb1.
EDIT: Nevermind, didn't see the difference of the pawns. Still hard to believe the author wouldn't see the easy #3 by 1.d7 in the cooked setting. | | No more posts |
