I agree with Seetharaman — who would have thought that this turns out to be so attractive…
Anyhow, here is an improved version of my above try, are the additional cookstoppers sufficient??

Miodrag Mladenovic and AT
(= 11+16 )

ser-hs=19 C?

Solution: 1.cxd6 2.Sxa6 3.Sxc5 4.a5 5.a4 6.a3 7.Ra4 8.Qa5 9.Kd8 10.Kc7 11.Kb6 12.Kb5 13.Kxb4 14.b5 15.Sxe4 16.Sxg3 17.Sxe2 18.Sxc1 19.Sxb3 & 1.c3+ Kxc3=

EDIT. Still cooked by I.e. 1.cxd6 2.dxc5 3.cxb4 4.e5 5.h5 6.h4 7.hxg3 8.Rh4 9.Rxe4 10.Rc4 11.Rxc2 12.Rxc1 13.Ke7 14.bxa6 15.Kf6 16.Kf5 17.f6 & 1.e4+ K~=
This needs more thought…

This may help inspire.

ser-hs=17 Schema

1. cxd6 2. Qxb6 3. Qxg1 8. bxa1=Q 9. Qxa6 10. Qd3 15. a1=Q 16. Qe5 17. Ra1 & 1. h4 h5

The move h3-h4 doesn't force a selfstalemate.
A queen on h3 could play Qh3xd7+ Kxd7=

Another question:
Is wPa4 in Ser-hs=16 (197) necessary? The solution works without it
and I see no other way for the rook walk.

Instead of Qe5 Ra1, black can also play Ra5 Re5, or a1=S Sc2 Ra1. And the latter cook means that perhaps moving Olaf's queen to e2 may fix this.

This is cooked i.e. by 1.cxd6 2.Qxb6 4.Qd3 9.bxa1=B 11.Bxc1 12.Bxd2 13.h5 16.Rxg1 & 1.Qxe7+
And with an additional wPc2 also 1.cxd6 2.Qxb6 4.Qd3 9.bxa1=R 10.Sc6 12.Sxc2 13.h5 16.Rxg1 & 1.Qxe7+

Dear chess friends!
Do you think this could work?

Olaf, most likely, this scheme does not allow to do it in 14 moves, but it might be possible to do it at least in 13, if you force 1.cd
I would like to know this in this position:
W: Kd1,Re6,Rg2,Bg5,Nd3,Nd6,pp.b3,e5,g4 (9) B: homebase (16) Ser.hs#13 C?
Thank you!

Thank you,Arno! When you're working on a plan,it's hard to find a cook. I modified the diagram a little. Now to get to f3 the king needs to destroy the c6 bishop. Can this help you survive? Please also look at this attempts of mine.
W: Kd1,Rb6,Bc6,Bg3,Nd3,Nd6,pp.a5,b3,e6,f2,h3 (11) B: homebase (16) Ser.hs#14 C?
or without rook b6 and pawn a5 - Ser.hs#13 C?

How not to let the black king go along a different route - apparently this requires even deeper thought.
Maybe someone ready to help?
Arno, by the way, I recently tried to correct your ser.h=19 (see posts 397,403)
W:Kf2,Qb5,Re2,Bh2,Bh5,Ne1,Ne3,pp.b6,c4,e6,f5,g3,h6 (13)
B:homebase (16) Ser.h=19 with solution : 1.ab 2.Ra4 3.R*c4 4.Rc6 5.d5 6.d4 7.d3 8.de 9.Qd2 10.Nd7 11.Rc3 12.R*e3 13.R*g3 14.Q*h6 15.Qg6 16.h6 17.Qh7 18.Rg6 19.f6 B*c7=.
Could this work?

OK, who else is yearning for an AI which not only finds cooks, but
tries edits to fix them? :-)

With not so many attempts, new records should be possible in the ser-hs field.
Should not (197) be Tüngler/Mladenovic in view of (195)?

There were quite some attempts 200 posts ago...
I fully agree with the [197] - it is MM & AT but I am also 100 % sure that this is not the last word...
For Michel's ser-hs#16 it would be good to have the solution.
