@(343) Popeye gives me a cook in 7 moves when I set the condition ser-!#16. So MMM is changing something. Can you give us explanation what does MMM means? How to enter this condition in Popeye (if Popeye supports this type of problems)? |

See (76), (77), (80) and (108).
The cook
1. Ke4 2. Kd5 3. Bxc7 4. Bd6 5. Bxe7 6. Kd6 7. Kxd7#
does not work because 7. Kxd7 is illegal (white majesty meets black majesty). |

@344 as far as I know neither Popeye nor Jacobi have a 'no king's contact' option, but Winchloe has one. |

It's time for a twelfth interim balance.
It's hard to find the current record in section Ser-s= . It might be (113).
Several attempts surpass his problem but the might be cooked as well.
New record ser-=19 .
Current records are:
Ser-# ...11 ........... (39) Arno Tüngler (starter)
Ser-= ...19 .......... (349) Arno Tüngler / Michael Schreckenbach

Or even 4 more moves:
(= 9+16 )
ser-r=27 (C?)
The final position after the solution is:
(= 9+9 )
After 40 minutes of testing Popeye confirmed that last 26 moves are correct ser-a=>b26. It looks like ser-a=>b27 will run forever. I'll leave Popeye to run over the night.
Here is the solution:
1.Ra1-b1 2.Sb3-a1 3.Bc4-a2 4.Qh4-c4 5.h2-h4 6.h4-h5 7.h5-h6 8.h6*g7 9.g7*f8=B 10.Bf8*e7 11.Be7-a3 12.b2-b4 13.Rb1-b2 14.Ba2-b1 15.Qc4-a2 16.Kd3-c4 17.d2-d4 18.d4-d5 19.d5-d6 20.d6*c7 21.c7*b8=R 22.Rb8*c8 23.Rc8-c7 24.Rc7*d7 25.Rd7-d3 26.Rd3-b3 27.Kc4-c3 b7-b5= |

Thank you very much for the great idea to add the 19th move in the Ser-=, Michael! And for the testing, Olaf! Now remains the logical question: could the wK also be on h5 and we have 20 moves?? Probably not but…
EDIT: Of course not, even your cook at (178) works… |

It looks like two promotions will not work. Perhaps this one is correct:
(= 9+16 )
ser-r=19 (C?) |
|
(360) Posted by Miodrag Mladenović [Saturday, Apr 23, 2022 05:35] |
(A)
(= 10+16 )
ser-r=25 (C?)
or
(B) if wPa6 helps to prevent cook
(= 11+16 )
ser-r=25 (C?)
If this one is incorrect perhaps moving wRa1 => b1 gives a correct ser-r#24. The white rook on a1 perhaps can come to b2 from a2 square. I am running a Popeye trying to prove that ser-a=>b25 is correct but it takes forever and I am not sure if I'll be able to complete this test because I do not have desktop for testing and for laptop it's not recommended to run it 24+ hours without turning off. |
