About the CAO, it is not a Marine Knight. It moves like a normal Knight, but capturing by hopping over a hurdle.
For example - CAOa1 can move on b3, but if on b3 is a piece (hurdle) it can jumps over it and captures an opposite color piece which is on c5.

Look the two examples for Section B (Kostadinov & Gandev) where the CAO is part of the Chameleon Chinese sequence:

That is exactly how a Marine Knight moves! See the following link:

 QUOTE
The Marine Knight moves as Knight provided the destination square is vacant, but captures an enemy on (1,2) by leaping to (2,4) – which again must be vacant.

No Geoff, they are different.

For example: if we have white CAO on a1, black Pb3 and bPc5, the white CAO jumps over the hurdle b3 and capture the pawn on c5 (like chinese type piece).

But if on a1 is a white Marine Knight and on b3 and c5 we have black pawns, the Marine Knight can NOT capture the pawn on c5. It can capture the b3 pawn, but ONLY if the c5 square is empty. So if we have a white Marine Knight on a1 and black pawn on b3, the Marine Knight can capture this pawn on b3 and landing on c5 (as Locust type piece).

Without captures both - CAO and Marine Knight moves like normal Knight (so from a1 both can play on c2).
