MatPlus Review 12

First of all, my apologies that this partially became yet another spiritual report by me. Originally I was just to praise Marjan's article.

Many thanks for the article, Marjan! It was a great joy to read about the famous Odette Vollenweider. While your remark is right that there are only few women in chess composition, their works are not less admirable. Edith Helene Winter-Wood Baird surely belongs to the best composers of her time and Herr Baumgartner is well-known for her great dedication. I admire her and the book about Schiffmann now even more, reading the story behind it. It was a great surprise to learn in what way the great Hermann Hesse contributed to chess composition and the article really is something for the heart without becoming kitsch.

It is interesting that Frau Vollenweider came to the same spiritual conclusion that I also got: The streams of people are not broken or separated at the death of one, they might just seem weaker for a while. There is no doubt that Hans Johner must have been a wonderful person that requires more attention by us.

Indeed, with all reports on how the dead still work for the living, it will not come as a surprise that such connections can be felt. Or rather it does since that's still a rare gift. I'm not able yet to feel such things, even though I'm someway spiritually connected. The main power behind it seems to be love - a true love that only few people can experience. I believe that in most cases what people think is love is nothing more than a physical substitution for it by the unconscious sexuality. It is evident by her report that the love between Vollenweider and Johner was a true one like mostly the love between near family members (but even that not in all cases). In that case space is not a barrier anymore and miracles can happen.

I experienced this feeling myself, although with a still living person, a very special one. It is an incredible experience to feel someone who is thousands of kilometres away, and even more incredible what else we did feel back then. There was something that couldn't be explained by words, it surely must have been the origin of life, a love so pure that it is not to be felt on this earth, one that was visible in a pink color as a kind of liquid(?) wall. Whatever people call God, this of all things I ever felt comes closest to it. There was no doubt that this love is where we originate from.

It might just be coincidence but probably not that since then I have something like a strengthened intuition. I can experience it on games mostly. For example, we played a card game and I sensed twice what would have been good (both times however I played rationally and regret it). There are other times when I intuitively feel something that happens shortly afterwards. I kind of have always had that but it's more often now.

Thank you Siegfried!
Your comment and wonderful personal experience enriched the most delicate subjects of this interview! These were exactly the parts where we weren't sure how a reader would react, and your reading makes me really happy. The Part Two is to follow.

No, I have to thank for this wonderful interview! I always was interested in Frau Vollenweider since she seems to have a lot of biographical knowledge. One of the worst things I learnt now is that it is only about Schiffmann.

Best,
Siegfried

EDIT: Fully agreeing to Hauke below!

If it's for me, she deserves highest praise for her
Schiffmann book...especially because this book brought
me to the twomover. And what would the problem world
with out Hauke the 2# supergenius :-)
