MatPlus & MatPlus Review Winter 2008 Preliminary version as downloadable:
p.85: Loustau & Akobia (1145) is probably a draw study (at least it ends in a nice one).
PS: Now that it is out, I can tell: The title of 1142 by me is an anagram of the name of the composer this study is dedicated to. |

I confirm!
This study is a Draw, not a win! |

p.206-207 MPR Winter 2008, article by Grigory Popov: "Promotion Records"
Neither Grigory Popov nor Michael McDowell knew the following problem, both giving lower records for bishop promotions:
(= 15+8 )
David Zimbeck
Die Schwalbe 2003 (problem no. 11740), 3rd commendation(!)
Mate in 6
1.exf8B Qxf8 2.d8B Rxd8 3.cxd8B Qxd8 4.b8B Qxb8 5.axb8B Bxf7 6.Bxe5 mate
This clearly obsoletes the record given in MPR Winter 2008 after Morse Aug 9 1995 / Jan 8 2001
PS: Found in Schwalbe issue 231, June 2008, p.476-477. |

The other day, Gary Kevin Ware used this problem on his chessproblem.net column and pointed out, David Zimbeck has a website at http://www.zimbeckchess.com/
Also, I found Sir Morse updates his book in The Problemist. Can someone check if he already published this problem there?
Best,
Siegfried |

Jeremy Morse confirmed in the new Problemist (November 2010) that he didn't know the Zimbeck problem and also quotes some problems by Grigori Popov from MPR 2009. |
