SuperProblem's record book, http://superproblem.ru/archive/S_record.html, is quite a fantastic collection of works.
One record that seemed out of reach, though, is 8 White queen promotions in a directmate. Popov's try, also working as a study, was found cooked earlier this year. However, I did notice that one of the multiple 7's, http://superproblem.ru/archive/probl/N/Zimbeck-12-2004.gif, was a C+ version of David Zimbeck's cooked 2004 try, https://pdb.dieschwalbe.de/P1201958.
Looking upon the PDB entry, it seemed strange that there would be a cook in eight. Turns out Stratagems misprinted it, as a look in their archives confirmed. I've since corrected the PDB entry with a note of the printed position. As such, there may have been some confusion over the Zimbeck's attempted record.
The fatal flaw is the Qa6/Qa7 dual on the second move. With modern tools, and a bit of playing around, it turns out legally correcting Zimbeck's problem is indeed possible. Henceforth, I present it here.
