@(91) Ser-s=25 is also cooked with
1.Bg2 2.h4 3.h5 4.h6 5.Bxg7 6.Bf6 7.Bxe7 8.Rc2 9.Kd2 10.Kc3 11.Kb4 12.Ka5 13.cxb7 14.Bd6 15.Bxc7 16.Bxb8 17.Bxa7 18.b8=B 19.Rc7 20.Bb7 21.Ba6 22.Rbb7 23.Kb6 24.a5 25.Qxf7+ Kxf7=

Olaf Jenkner

(= 3+16 )

ser-r#8

Olaf Jenkner
(= 4+16 )

ser-r=6

(65) ser-s=21 with the bishop at b1 could be also a sound ser-r=21 .

Who claims to have the longest ser-s= ?
The last in the list was
ser-s=21 by Michal Dragoun.

But there were some attempts later.

Olaf,

ser-s#9 cooked: 1.Ke5 2.Be4 3.d4 4.d5 5.d6 6.dxc7 7.cxb8=S 8.Sxd7 9.Sxf8 Qd6#
ser-r=6 is correct.

Thanks, I shortened the ser-r#9 . I hope now it's correct.
Gustav doesn't help.

(= 2+16 )

ser-r#10 (C+)

(= 3+16 )

ser-r=8 (C+)

But especially with ser-r=, a lot more should be possible.

This also might be interesting:

Olaf Jenkner
(= 6+16 )

ser-hs#5

1. d6 2. Bxe6 3. Kd7 4. Kc8 5. Bd7 ... Sxa7+ Rxa7#

Maybe the move counting is not correct, I took as an example P1192114.

(147) cooked: 1. f6 2. Sh6 3. Sf5 4. Sd4 5. Sc2 6. Se3 Bg6 7. hg6#

And ser-hs#n is equivalent to n->s#1 (i.e. n black moves, then a s#1)

New-
series-stalemate (extended to 16 moves, c+)

(= 5+16 )

ser=16

Sol.4.fxe7 5.exd8B 6.Bxc7 7.Bxb8 8.Bxa7 9.Bb6 10.Rxa8 11.Ra5 12.Rxg5 13.Rxg7 14.Rxh7 15.Rxh8 16.Rxg8=
Difficult genre for determination of moves.
(starter was ser=15 with Pd6,f4 instead Bd6,Pf2)

It's time for a seventh interim balance. [Edit 03/31 23:09]

(91) has been cooked, the former entry by Michal is much shorter.
Several attempts surpass his problem but the might be cooked as well.

I didn't dare to include the ser-= section, but an amazing example came in.

In ser-r= much longer problems might be possible.

Current records are:

Ser-# ...11 ........... (39) Arno Tüngler (starter)
Ser-= ...18 .......... (159) Arno Tüngler
ser-s# ..17 .......... (124) Frank Richter
ser-s# ..17 .......... (128) Michael Schreckenbach
ser-s= ..21 .......... (65) Michal Dragoun (C?)
Ser-r# ..10 .......... (145) Joost de Heer
Ser-r= ..11 .......... (155) Joost de Heer
Ser-!# ..13 .......... (127) Joost de Heer / Michael Schreckenbach
Ser-!# MMM 14 .. (74) Frank Richter
Ser-!# MMM 14 .. (78) Joost de Heer
Ser-!= ..26 .......... (118) Dragan Stojnić (C?)
Ser-h# .11 .......... (42) Michel Caillaud / Arno Tüngler
Ser-hs# .5 .......... (146) Olaf Jenkner (starter)

Maybe little chance for ser=17 with Ka4 Ra6 Bd6 Bf3 Pf2 or with Ka4 Ra6 Bf4 Bh5 Pf2 ?
I cannot to test it in short time...
(if somebody can please)

Which makes me think that perhaps the ser-s=16 with Ke5 Bg4 Pc5 Pg2 is also a correct ser-r=16, possibly with an added wPh4.

Don't you think (65) ser-s=21 with the bishop at b1 could be also a correct ser-r=21 ?

(157) Posted by Joost de Heer [Thursday, Mar 31, 2022 21:31]

r= is much easier to cook than s=, so I have my doubts.
For instance, in the ser-r=11 a white rook on a5 instead of a bishop on d1 won't work: 1. g4 2. Ke4 3. Kf4 4. Rh5 5. Kg5 6. Rh7 7. Rh1 8. Rd1 9. Rd7 10.Rd4 Qd4=

See post (153)

Meanwhile I try ser-=17 with Bf3, it's cooked unfortunately:
1. Bxc7 2. Bxd8 3. Bxe7 4. Bxf8 5. Bxb7 6. Rb6 7. Bxc8 8. Rxb8 9. Rxa8 10. Rxa7 11. Rxd7 12. Rxf7 13. Rxg7 14. Rxg8 15. Rxh8 16. Rxh7 17. Be7=

Ser-=18 C+

1.g4 2.g5 3.g6 4.gxh7 5.hxg8=Q 6.Qxh8 7.Qxg7 8.Qg1 9.Qxa7 10.Qxa8 11.Qxb8 12.Qxc7 13.Qb6 14.c7 15.cxd8=B 16.Bxe7 17.Bxf8 18.Bd6=

In a ser-r= there's no need to Pg7 to be captured, so this is cooked by e.g. 1.Bh5 2.g4 3.g5 4.c6 5.g6 6.Bg4 7.gxh7 8.hxg8=S 9.Sh6 10.Sxf7 11.Sxd8 12.Sxb7 13.Sc5 14.Sxd7 15.Ke6 16.Bh5+ Rxh5=
