The "Reverse $100 Theme"

The "Reverse $100 theme"-a s#5 with a double knight excelsior where Black mates White. Fairy conditions are to be used of course. Perhaps the name is a tad inappropriate, but it works in my opinion. What would be a better name in your view?

I found only one example, although there may more I missed.

P1188536
Günter Glaß,39 Nur ein Bauer 1974
s#5, Mehrwertschach
(= 8+4 )

I created my own example just for fun.

r#5, Maximummer
(= 7+7 )

Feel free to find other examples or create your own! All fairy conditions are welcome!

The white doesn't need to promote on the fifth move, 5.c6 works as well.
There are also some cooks with this idea: 1.Bc2 f5 2.exf5 exd2 3.e4 bxc2 4.f6 c1=Q#

Thanks for catching the cook. Adding WNa1 easily prevents the cook, but the dual remains. Adding BPc6 is no good as then there is no solution.

Here is a correct problem of mine that prioritizes the reflexmate condition over the maximummer condition.

r#5, Réflexe puis Maximum noir

(= 10+8 )

EDIT: Thanks to Juraj, the problem is correct with a different fairy condition. Your problem is indeed correct, Dmitri, contrary to my former words. I have more or less wiped out my previous reply here. I also thank Nikola for helping me understand that maximummer usually becomes before reflex unless stated.

Hm, condition Maximummer tells which move is legal and which IS NOT. And you can't mate by an illegal move.

Normally, reflex requirement from the stipulation comes only after Maximummer. WinChloe offers the condition "Réflexe puis Maximum noir" prioritizing #1 before considering the longest legal move. Under this condition the problem is correct.

To Nikola-You are right, I overlooked the full definition.

Many thanks Juraj! I am glad there exists such a condition. I shall label my problem as such then.

I managed to save two pieces:
(= 7+10 )

R#5 Maximummer

Actually it's possible to save one more piece but in illegal position (now for Fairies there is no illegal position so following rules it's correct problem):
(= 8+8 )

Well done, Miodrag, I suspected it could be improved!

Nicely done Miodrag! While the illegal position is technically more economic, I will admit that I found legal positions to more pleasing, aesthetically speaking.

In a legal position with the White king on the second rank instead of the third, here's one that is just as economic.

r#5, Maximummer

I managed to find position with 13 pieces:

(= 8+5 )

R#5 Maximummer

1.e4 e5 2.exd5 exd4 3.d6 dxc3 4.d7 cxb2 5.d8S b1S# (Model checkmate)

A wonderful new scheme, Miodrag. Congratulations on finding it!

I happened across a just as economical, and less heavy, setting for a second rank king. I also like how this one ends in a field of horses.

r#5, Maximummer
(= 9+4 )

Rewan, this is incorrect, there's no need for wSf8. And the Dummy-Knights make the economy terrible. Misha's officers are static but their attacking power is crucially needed.

With more Pawns, 1+1 officers would suffice. The economy of officers (especially white) is valuable per se.
Perhaps this scheme could be used and improved:

(= 7+10 )

There is, guarding of d7 (since Rd2 gets captured).

Nikola, akin to what Joost pointed out quite rightly, what "Dummy Knights" are there? White's knights serve as self-blocking pieces, and Black's knight servers to cut off two flight squares from the White's king.

Your scheme is also neat in that we finally have a realization of the Q/B promotion avoidance, instead of the usual Q/R, of guarding the mating square.

@(15) Joost, there is no need to guard d7 anymore because last black reflex move is of the same length. So this is not the correct problem. The square d7 has to be guarded until the last move but then there is no need to guard it. So even 5.a7 is OK to play and black will have to play 5...dxc1S#

Nikola's problem is correct but I do not like black powns cook stoppers. Bug good scheme with a nice tempo move promotion.

Misha,
I also don't like these cookstoppers, but it's just a scheme, not a problem. I presented it only as an example of the economy of thematic officers.
Your problem beautifully combines the use of wR and the rush of wP for guarding b7. Rewan and Joost didn't quite understand that. Pin by wB is a nice device but the key is horrible, disabling the complete S-wheel (although not very important in such a mechanical type of composition).

Rewan, being a dummy is a humiliation for an officer whose power is not used and who serves only as an immovable stone.

Nikola, I understand quite well what the motivations are in Miodrag's problem are. I just keep forgetting the snag in the last move being the same length as a king move that cooks my problem/s. Under the current scheme we are working with, I don't think that I second rank White king with Miodrag's idea is possible.

With fairy pieces, it is possible to make lighter positions.

r#5, Double Maximummer (Dummy King And Berolina Pawn)
