A new type of defensive retracttors

Klaus Wenda and Andreas Thoma introduced a new type of defensive retractors, a combination of the well known Proca and Høeg types. They called it, deduced from their first names, "type KLAN".

You will find the introducing article in my retroblog (http://www.thbrand.de) for download (http://www.thbrand.de/downloads/VRZ-KLAN.pdf). Enjoy -- and I hope you will compose some good KLAN retractors!

Have fun!

Thomas

Thank you, Thomas.

Unfortunately, the translation from German to English with Google translate is not at all accurate. The way I understand the definition, in case of a capture, White always chooses the type of the piece that was captured. White can also overrule Black's claim that a piece was captured (per Høeg definition) and decide that there was no capture (according to the only example with orthodox rules, No. K). Did I understand it correctly, or am I way off?

In any case, KLAN looks like an interesting new type of Retractor. I expect to see more examples with it in the future.

It combines Hoeg and Proca.
Essentially White alwazs decides what captures have happened, from what I understood.

Kostas, Siegfried, you are correct!

In KLAN White retracts according to Proca rules (i,e. decides on black pieces to be uncaptures), while Black retracts according to Hoeg rules (i.e. the opponent, White, decides about white pieces to be inserted).

In this case obviously a fourth type exists: Black (or put it more
succinctly, the defending side) decides all uncaptures. Seems even
more interesting to me, as Whites plans are easily foiled.
