#1: A Chess Problem As Epitaph

When I saw that position , I immediatelly thought: "The visitor is playing black with the late Mr. Davidson. I can almost see him - smiling - in the other side of the board, and about to play 1.0-0 check mate"

Curious, that this seems to be a 'try', because the author solution, as communicated by the Dutch chess collectors’ group “Motiefgroep Schaken” in a booklet on Chess related gravestones, is:

"1.Kc9 or 1.Kd9; the king goes to heaven, and his rival is mated"

image and details are courteously provided by Edward Winter

(just for the record: the Cemetery - and also (!?) source of the onemover, is "Zorgvlied", in Amsterdam)
