I am sorry to hear that John Beasley, an innovator in chess mathematics, tablebases & studies, has passed on. I never had the chance to meet him face to face but in our email dealings he was unfailingly friendly, imaginative, precise & witty. I was delighted to find a copy of one of his books to buy in the local bookshop in Hong Kong several years ago. I recommend his website too.

I received the sad news that Sarah Hornecker (formerly Siegfried) died today. His mother told me this over the phone. Sarah was very active in this forum. She regularly wrote articles for EG and chessbase and was a successful study composer.
We were good friends.
My condolences to his family. Rest in peace.

Sarah Hornecker will be especially missed in this forum (way too young).

@Jacques: Lifelong health issues, I guess? She already made cryptic
hints in tourney announcements. The new SCHWALBE might know...

She was a kind and close peer ever since I came here. Dearly missed, she will be.
