Emil Ramin

Is there anyone who can give biographical details of Emil Ramin, author of Im Wunderland des Schachproblems? I can't find any problems by him, so I assume he was mainly a editor; I have found one problem dedicated to him.

Anyone who wishes to express opinions regarding the book is more than welcome to do so as well.

Thanks to all of you.
You understand German, but for other readers I will (roughly) translate:

Also 125 years ago, Emil Ramin (14.xi.1885-23.ii.1963) was born. He came from the Arbeiterschach movement, from that he was banned after publishing an article in the communist (!) chess magazine Frei Schach!. He devoted himself to spreading problem chess and thereby wrote delightful essays. Well-known remained his 1958 published book Im Wunderland des Schachproblems.

Is there an echo in here? :)

I looked also in Gerhard Willeke: Geschichte des deutschen Arbeiterschach, Nightrider Unlimited, Treuenhagen 2002, and found some more information about Ramin. Evidently Ramin had written part one of an article decrying the politicization of "worker's chess" which was quite prophetic, but had to publish part two in the communist chess journal, leading to his expulsion. He was also the editor of two chess columns in worker's newspapers that appeared in Stuttgart, which is where he was from, I imagine. I wonder if he had to leave Germany, at least temporarily, in the 1930s as so many had to?

Emil Ramin was a member (later: hon. member) of "Stuttgarter Schachfreunde". This is mentioned (identically) in the booklet "100 Jahre SSF 1879" and the book "Schach in Württemberg" both by the chronicler Prof. Eberhard Herter. Nothing about composing, playing career or flight from Germany during Hitlers governance. So, for further information you could sent a mail to the address mentioned on the homepage of Stuttgarter Schachfreunde; there are members, which were active on that time (and still today!) and should have known Ramin personally - if he had participated in club activities!

Emil Ramin was a regular collaborator of the magazine Problem, and had his column "Raminova stranica / Ramin's Schachecke", with wonderful contributions, published in Serbo-Croatian and German. See Problem 29-30/1955, p.259-261, and Problem 33-36/1956, p.336-337.

Thank you. I do not have access to any of those issues of Problem, so any chessfriend who would be willing to share these columns, I would most appreciate it. This is for historical research for an article.

And to Wilfried, the 1. Vorsitzender of the Verein has already responded to me, and we have leads out.
