Anticipated miniatures?

Two fine miniatures:

(A)
T.Nissl
Akademische Monatschefte für Schach 1910

(= 4+3 )

Mate in 6

1.Bh4 Rd1
2.Bg3 Rc1
3.Bf4 Rc2
4.Bg5 Rc8
5.Bd2+

(B)
John Nunn
2nd Prize British Chess Magazine 1984-85

(= 4+3 )

Mate in 3

1.Qc6 (-)
1...Kf4 2.Qc3 (Set 2.Qe3+)
1...Kd4 2.Bxh7
1...d4 2.Qc5+

Both problems are allegedly anticipated (exactly, but reflected) by problems in the book "Miniatures Canadiennes" by A.J.Godbout (published 2000), (A) by T.Davidson, Montreal Daily Witness 1899, and (B) by William Braithwaite, Toronto Sport 1888.

On a recent visit to the British Newspaper Library in London I checked the "Montreal Daily Witness" for 1899. I neither found the problem nor any mention of Davidson.

The anticipation of (B) does not feature in the book "Canadian Chess Problems" by C.F.Stubbs, published in 1890 and available as an e-book from Anders Thulin's website. There is no mention of Braithwaite. Ken Whyld's book "Chess Columns: A list" details many Toronto-based columns, but there is no mention of the "Toronto Sport".

I would very much like to know how this collection of Canadian miniatures was compiled!

I happen to be the one who compiled this set of miniatures from various sources. Thourghout the years, I have established an extensive collection of the problems published by Canadians in various publicatons, most of which are local newspapers and chess magazines.
Most of the material in Miniatures Canadiennes were the result of a review of the original newspapers and publications at the collection of the National Library in Ottawa. Unfortunately, I must admit that some errors have been identified in the published version of the book after its publication.
The Davidson Problem has been found in the research papers of Marc Benoit, a Canadian problemist of the 60s. The problem had been used as an example in one of his draft articles on miniatures. It appeared, after our publication, that the article may have been wrong about its source or the problem used was not corresponding to the problems published by Davidson.
As for the Toronto Sport columns, the problems were identified in the mcrofilm archives of the National Library of Canada in Ottawa. The same author published a few problems in the period in local Toronto Newspapers.
As for te Stubbs Book, it is quite restrictive as a source since it is mainly based on the problems published by a narrow network of problemists gravitating around the Quebec Chronicle, St-John's Globe and the Montreal Daily Witness. Manyproblems have been reproduced in other newspapers without mention of the original place of publication. It's main shorcoming is that it overlooks most of the French Language newspapers and most of the regional newspapers (Orilllia, St-Hyacynth, La Presse of Montreal...).
This does not erase some of the inaccuracies contained in the original publication of "Miniatures Canadiennes"... it just convinced me to leave this kind of research to other amateurs.
