Vasily Nikitovich Dolgov

Does anyone know why Vasily Nikitovich Dolgov stopped composing around 2000? Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst... Maybe Mr. Kolpakov knows, if someone knows how to contact him?

It seems we share birthday (born in Ninsky near Stavropol) and the love for knight promotions:

(= 8+12 )

Vasily Dolgov, Shakhmaty (Riga) 1985, special honorable mention
White wins
Sixfold knight promotion

Of course the study is cooked by 2.-S:e6. Sometimes you wonder how you can't notice it.
However, the following masterpiece is correct.

(= 7+6 )

Vasily Nikitovich Dolgov
Shakhmaty v SSSR 1985 {tt}, special honorable mention
White wins

First one to show four knight promotions in the pawn endgame, to my knowledge!

Vasily Dolgov passed away in the late nineties of the XX century. The exact date of his death is unknown to me...
His friend Viktor Kolpakov died because of heart attack on March 2, 2001.
You must be missed the two composing Memorial Tourneys:

MT V. Kolpakov - 50, 2006 http://chesscomposer.ru/htm/reports/kolpakov50.html
MT V. Kolpakov - 55, 2011 http://chesscomposer.ru/htm/reports/kolpakov55.html

This miniature by Dolgov is amazing. After 1. g7 Rb1+, the immidiate 2. Kc2? Rb2+! 3. Kd3 Rb3+ 4. Ke4 Rg3 doesn't work, so White needs to make square g3 unavailable to the black rook. That involves bringing his king all the way to b8 and back.

(= 4+3 )

Shakhmaty v SSSR, 1966, 1st prize

Solution (from http://yacpdb.org/?id=344913)
