What is the setting of the white units on the first rank, among the 24 possible ones, so that the WK being on the right of the WQ, K and Q sides being symmetrical, black units respectively in front of the white ones, and allowing White to play 4.SxRe6# ?

If the mating move is a discovery check, the WQ is on a1 and BKh8, but Black can close the WQ-line.
3 moves are played by the BR to reach e6 (a BR on e8 would leave 2 flight squares) ;
So Kf and Qc, and the f and c BP do not play.
After the 3rd move, The WS must be on a dark square, observed by Black. If the WS is on c5, d4, f4 or g5 the square is observed by a B or a P. Stating that the BQc8 and the Bpe7 did not play, only a BBh8 could fit. But 1…g7-g5 2... Rg8-g6 3... Rg6-e6 also offer two many flight squares to the BK. So the WS plays the 4th move from c7 or g7 and has captured a BP. If it plays from c7, BB is on a8 and BR b8 to guard d5 after 1... b7-b5 2... Rb8-b6. In this case, the BS would be on d and e, and Black could play Sd8xe6.
So, the WS plays from g7 via f5, observed by the BQc8. BR are on d and e. BS are on a and h so that the WSh1 can reach f5.

The setting is SBQRRKBS
