Popeye and short mates

For some reason Popeye does not give me the short variations in solution. This way the solution is not complete. How to make Popeye to show short mates?

Your statement isn't entirely accurate: Popeye does not give a variation
- if the defense doesn't defeat at least one threat, or
- if the variation following the defense is shorter than the threat(s)

Such defenses are considered bad by Popeye (or rather Popeye's developers).

Currently, Popeye doesn't offer an option that changes this behavior.

This is strange, because Popeye has a "NoShortVariations" option (short variations are suppressed on output). Why is there an option for the default behaviour?

Short variations are not [by default] suppressed on output.

If you have popeye solve, by default, it will include the following short variation:
1...cxd5 2.Sf7+ 2...Ke6 3.Rf6# (note: this does defeat the threat, but is not full length)

With "opt noshortvariations" this defense will be eliminated.
