Hm... I never thought about it before.
The chess is not an official Olympic sport but according wikipedia we can see following: "The governing bodies of the following sports, though not contested in the Olympic Games, are recognized by the IOC: chess..."

So IOC recognized FIDE to organize such an event as Chess Olympics. The FIDE Olympic tourney in composing is an official FIDE and Chess Federation of Azerbaijan tourney coordinated with the WFCC Presidium and is a part of the joint efforts by FIDE and WFCC for the popularization and development of chess composition worldwide.

And now I understand that the winners of this official FIDE Olympic tourney are not Olympic champions of our sport/art (chess composition)?? So this tourney is with fake name!? Why you call it officially Olympic when after that say that the the winners are not such champions?
How you call this "the joint efforts by FIDE and WFCC for the popularization and development of chess composition worldwide" if you not respected your own tourney and the participants???

First many composers was not allowed to participate because main genres as Fairies and Retros was not included in the tourney and now we understand that also the name is fake!? Hm...

I think that, all Olympic tournaments' winners (in any sport) should be called Olympic champions (because of the significance of these competitions),while in all other major sporting events first spot takers may be called simply winners.

I think it is not legal to use the word "Olympic" before the name of any tourney conducted by FIDE or any other body. Prior approval of International Olympic Association is necessary. In the case of composing tournaments I think Internation Olympic body is probably just ignoring the violation.

I mean composers - winners of the Olympic tournament, as well as in other sports must obtain the status of the Olympic champion. Moreover, the tournament is organized at the initiative of FIDE and WFCC.

From the encyclopedia: "Olympic champion — the winner of the summer or winter Olympic games".
In our case it is the "winner of the FIDE Olympic Tournament in Composing 2016".

Yes, nobody says that the Chess Olympiad or the Olympic tourney in composing is the same as the Olympic Games, it is obvious - the chess is not an Olympic sport.

But how you call the winners of the World Chess Olympiad - Olympic champions or just winner of the Chess Olympiad? If they are also called just winners - please, accept my apologise for this misunderstanding. But if the winners of the Chess Olympiad are called Olympic champions, so why this should be different for the chess composition?

Those who win at chess Olympiad-winners of the world chess Olympiads. Karpov and Kasparov were world Champions and multiple winners of the World chess Olympiads. This can be found in Wikipedia.
