Dear Cdr Ganapathi Sir ,

C J Morse Pointed out Wenigsteiner in his book length and records 2016 edition.

17.1 Length is not normally a virtue in chess problems. ... for different numbers of total force , particularly 3-4 men (Wenigsteiner).

Following is ChessProblems Canada TT4 Wenigsteiner Series and Parry-Series Four-Corners Echoes Tourney Award

I am not sure if you have found the name of Wenigsteiner award only by the way or you stumbled upon Hilmar Ebert's dedicated website: http://www.wenigsteiner.de/

Yes the Wenigsteiner-Jahrespreis does excellent work shining the spotlight onto good examples from the previous year, although I do have one beef with it.

All the problems do of course have a maximum 4 pieces in the diagram, but many of them - often receiving the top honours - have stipulations/conditions which mean that extra pieces appear on the board during the course of the solution, for instance retractors, proof games, Sentinelles.

So I ask is it fair that problems in which the composers have risen to the challenge of producing interesting content from just 4 pieces must compete with examples where the number of pieces increases, so multiplying the strategic possibilities?

Maybe it is not fair, but that's the way it is.
