Most Discovered Checkmates In A Legal Position Record?

Is there a known record for the most discovered checkmates in a legal position? If the moving piece checks that move does not count, as that is a double check.

I managed to find 64 on my own. The black bishop is there for legality’s sake. Otherwise, what was black’s last move? An illegal king move I tell ya!

(= 16+2 )

The Breakdown- Rb7-12, Rc4-12, Bd3-7, Be5-13, Re6-8, Rg2-12

Also, just a side note of interest, 14 is the obvious limit for most doublecheck checkmates in a legal position.

(= 15+2 )

16 if you say promotions in rook or queen are different moves

I have heard about the Problemist before. I guess I just didn’t know any information about it. And that’s a nice thought regarding 16. I suppose I can accept different promotions counting as different moves for a side-category.

On Chess Stack Exchange “The Problemist” is occasionally cited as a source.

16 if you count different promotions as different moves that is. Very nice job!
