The point of all my posts about 57th WCCC, Bern 2014 is about the time distance between when some events are over and when they will be widespread known.

If you're referring to the solving competitions: Have you ever done the job of checking 100+ answer sheets? It takes time to check all those sheets, since it's still done by hand. You also need an advanced degree in reading hieroglyphs to read some of those sheets.

I remember the time when Milan has livestreamed some machine gun solving (I think it was called that) on this very website. That is probably what Branislav wants to have again.

@Branislav:

You seem to have no idea, how much work it is, to correct the solutions of the solvers.... it always takes till the evening to get first results.

Thank you, Jorma, for your kind reply.

I am not interested in the speed with which the organizer are going to prepare the results as such, but in their instant availability via the Internet (RSS feed technology, Facebook, Twitter...). They should be available at the same time they are presented to the participants in the tournament hall. Chess players do have this when it comes to some most ordinary competitions or, for example, blitz tournaments via www.chess-results.com.

All this should become a standard procedure for the future, because it was not the case before.
I remember that, until recently, I was reading the first results of chess problem competitions as well as the various decisions from the former congresses in the weekly column of the daily newspaper Politika. Marjan Kovacevic used to dictate all that information by phone to his editor's desk in Belgrade.

Once again, I would like to congratulate the organizers in Bern on the very successful congress.

I believe this was the very first time in a WCCC when the results of solving were available (almost) simultaneously at the announcement board in the hotel and online on the website (the problems and solutions were already there, much earlier). This was a very good idea and it worked well by avoiding the huge lines in front of the announcement board. At the same time, the solvers could see the detailed tables on their computers, compare and analyze the results much easier, etc. This is exactly what I did when I realized that this was the case: If I wanted to find out about the results, I would use my computer, rather than walk to the WCCC area.

About composing tourneys, the final bulletin was only available as a pdf file on the WCCC website, soon after the closing banquet. Whether not having a printed version of the bulletin is a good idea or not, still has to be evaluated, but complaining about lack of information for the problemists who were not present is completely wrong; they were able to have the same timely information as those who were there. One also has to constantly remember that organizing a WCCC is not an easy job. There are many things that need to be done and our Swiss friends did an excellent job.

Kostas, imho it was a very good idea. Who needs paper copies nowadays?

I always considered the printed version of the bulletin a nice tradition, but having only a pdf version is fine, too. For some of the participants, it might be difficult to access the file until after returning home and for very few, downloading the file might be a chore. I prefer a good bulletin (printed or electronic) as complete as possible to a printed bulletin missing many awards or other information. In this case, the bulletin is good and there is nothing to complain about.

Welcome to the 21st century, Kostas ;-).

I always hated it when communication totaly stopped when the bulletins were distributed.
Other than that: The possibility to correct errors is very valuable and adding missing reports is great. Sharing it with off congress people is another advantage.

Tomorrow we will add the last missing report and improve the booklet with bookmarks. Makes it much better to read now. You should download it again tomorrow evening and you will be pleased and praise the new way to publish the booklet :-).

With all due respect, I think a printed version in addition would be nice. Maybe something like print-on-demand, so there is no unnecessary extra cost for the organisers.
