I also played a game once that was to me like a study. I already gave the whole game on another forum, so let's concentrate on the study-like ending here.
(= 9+9 )
Hornecker vs Fink
February 25th, 2007
Position after 24...Sxc3
It's only to be seen at the second view that I would have to lose a pawn with normal means. I had a beautiful idea to save the game here with one of the best moves I've ever played:
25.b6!! Rxc6 26.b7 Rb8 27.a6 Sb5 28.Rfc1!!. Here I offered draw. My opponent declined and eventually even lost. It followed 28...Rxc1+ 29.Rxc1 Sa7, and he underestimated my position: 30.Kf2 h6? 31.Ke3 g5 32.Rc7+ Kf6 33.Rh7 f4+ 34.Kd2(!) Kg6?! 35.Rd7 d5?! 36.Kc3 g4 37.Kb4 f3 38.gxf3 gxf3 39.Rc7 f2 40.Rc1 Kg5 41.Rf1 Rf8 42.Kc5. Now black - who probably still couldn't believe it - gave up!
BTW, I still offer 10 Euro for a good study with this kind of positional ending (please send it to me, too, before or shortly after publication, so I can tell if it is a good study. Normally it's one when it's close enough to the game but with a good twist). | | (2) Posted by seetharaman kalyan [Wednesday, Nov 17, 2010 13:38]; edited by seetharaman kalyan [10-11-17] | Nicely played game!
