The lightest Staugaard Castling #2

I find it neat that somehow no one else has found it yet.

#2
(= 4+1 )

For two solutions, shift both rooks to the a-file.

Alas, I don't think that the base post gives a mate. wKe3 blocks wRb3. Shifting wRb3 to f3 gives cooks 1.Rb2! & 1.Rf2! Shifting wRb3 to g3 means there is no solution at all. So I think James' excellent contest is still open, and I offer the following:

I think bKg1 works also

Alas, make sure you have sleep before ever posting. Beasley anticipates you: https://pdb.dieschwalbe/P1368088

Similarly, however, the lightest #3 can be done.

Nice work; it is now time for an excelsior!

An inspiring #6 by James. Here are my economy improvements in #4, #5 & #6:

(= 6+1 )
#4 7 units
(= 7+1 )
#5 8 units
DRAFT
(= 6+4 )
#6 10 units

The queenside stand-off seems balanced. The challenge then is to hobble wR (whose presence is necessary to avoid the cook Qe8-e2#). Black needs a spare tempo in the #6 to avoid being pushed off c2. All are C+ by WinChloe Rokagogo, which I think is sufficient.

For the #6, I prefer James' setting, as White
can actually castle.

I did this one too, Hauke. White can castle with only 11 units. The tempo concerns are quite nice here: see why can't have sBh6 instead of h7? However James' declared objective for this thread is *lightest*. Do follow the plot :-)
