Congratulations to Danila Pavlov and Marina Putintseva, as well as the Serbian team for winning the championship. But also the truth is that the Ukrainian team could not take part in the championship due to Russian aggression.

But also the truth is that Russian "aggression" is caused by the brainlessness of Anglo-Saxon politicians...

@Vitaly:
Your attempts to justify this most brutal war in Europe since World War II seem frivolous. Apparently, you do not have information about the destroyed cities and infrastructure, about the thousands of civilians killed, including hundreds of children, about millions of refugees. Russia had no reason to attack an independent European country. Most countries in the world, including neutrals, and even some of Russia’s traditional allies (even Serbia) have backed a UN resolution condemning Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Ask Igor Yarmonov how he felt in Mariupol, shelled by Russian forces, in terrible conditions without communications, electricity, gas, heating, water, food and medical care.

@Viktoras
The truth is also that without the Russian team (Pavlov, Khasanov, Popov and Moiseev), gold is devalued

Brainlessness or... deliberate diabolical scheme.

@Alain

even if they know what they are doing, they are not able to calculate all the negative consequences of their diabolical scheme which hits ordinary people, including Anglo-Saxon.

As for me, diabolical brain = brainless!

@Andrey
Some are concerned about medals and games, others about peace and human life. I think many progressive sportsmen would agree to give up medals if it would help stop this senseless war.

@Viktoras

I am aware of all the facts you described.
Your understanding of human nature and human history seems frivolous...

I leave this topic

@Viktoras
Yes, it was the Lithuanian team and you personally participated and thought about medals.
You also thought about political dividends, speaking with the symbols of Ukraine.
You are constantly dragging our chess composition organization into a political arena.

Personally, I consider WFCC's decision to allow Russian representation in the ECSC a big mistake.

In championships like this one, there are no "individuals". Those persons are automatically representatives of their respective country, and their successes will be claimed as national victories. [Which has been proven now for those who needed a proof.]

Quote from https://ruchess.ru/news/all/danila_pavlov_i_marina_putintseva_chempiony_evropy_po_resheniyu/:
"Нашу страну на континентальном первенстве представляли..." -- "Our country was represented at the continental championship by..."

I am stunned by the shortsightedness of some (actually the majority) of WFCC delegates. This was predictable! At least for those acquainted with old soviet rhetoric.

PS. Having been at the event in Riga, I noticed that more than half of the hotel's capacity was used to accommodate displaced families and children from Ukraine. Thanks to the people of Latvia!

well, the "fide flag" must have been stolen somewhere between riga and moscow:

2. Would Russian/Belarus solvers participating in a tournament outside RUS/BLR without a country
designation (or under the FIDE flag) be eligible for WSC points?

About post 6-
Why without Russian team gold is devalued? Incomplete Serbia won gold without the best solver Mladenović and also very good Podinić.
Pavlov and othee are power team, I agree, but Mladenović, Vučković, Serafimović and Podinić also can to win in each contest-why not!?.
Ago Serbian team was European champion for 5 times. Now with 6 gold medals Serbia hold record.
It is for every respect, I hope

@Peter - here is the missing FIDE flag:

It serves the IOC as their flag too.

We don’t need political dividends because we are not politicians. We only stand for peace and justice. I continue to maintain friendly relations with some Russian and Belarusian composers (who are not Zombified).

@Eugene
Eurovision has only confirmed that Europe as a whole supports Ukraine. Never before have so many TV viewers voted for one country (28 out of 39 countries gave 12 points, 8 countries gave 10 points). And the song is great.

Only barbarians can force a man to deny himself by refusing to recognise himself in his country, which he loves against all odds, to tear up his flag, submerging him in shame. This "flag fide" is an abject masquerade. The banning of Russian competitors in any field is criminal madness.

@Alain
Barbarians are those who begin and support the war. War is a crime. "Banned" Russian competitors are alive and well, unlike thousands of war victims. Sanctions are punishment for the country. If citizens, athletes or artists are affected by sanctions, they should first of all blame not the countries that imposed the sanctions, but the authorities of their country that commit the crime.

About "those who begin and support the war", you may simply read again the short posts 4 & 7 higher.

But I was talking about something else : the love of one's country in the practice of sports or arts. It is indeed "barbaric" not to teach the love of one's country and the pride of being part of it, as I have modestly done in 40 years of teaching. And, worse, to ban this pride. It seems that this evidence is not accepted by some.
